Big Sur won't be snowed up but the road conditions are going to be "iffy" for a while. Highway 1, while stunningly beautiful, is easily closed by rock and mud slides covering the road, or the road sliding away.
Per the California DoT site, there are currently 2 closures due to mudslides. It would not be surprising that these continues continue and that you would need to come into Big Sur from the north, via Monterey.
A substantially longer trip. Although not without it's attractions. The current storm conditions are much more serious than we've had for many years and any predictions of access or conditions would be just a guess until the time of a trip. Big Sur is about 30 miles south of the Monterey Peninsula, which in turn is about 45 miles south of Santa Cruz.
